UAN10 Experiment
The UAN10 engineering sea trial experimental activities take place from the period september 8 to september 25 on the island of Pianosa, Tuscan Archipelago, Tyrrhenian Sea.The experiment will be conducted in parallel with NURC ACommsNet 10 experiment. The Italian Navy has made available the R/V Leonardo for the deployment and recovery of equipment and operations at sea.
UAN partners will participate with equipment and personel for the operating of the various equipment during this experiment. Equipments will include the Subsurface Telemetry Unit (STU), 2 Fixed Nodes (FNOs) and the Portable Acoustic Source Unit (PASU) from CINTAL, 2 Fologa AUV vehicles from ISME and 5 modems from Kongsberg Maritime.
Operations are planned to be the following:
8th to 12th September - Shore preparation, testing of integration between various partner equipments and deployment of the STU with the 16 channel acoustic vertical array and the 1km fiber optic and power cable to shore.
13th of September - Network experiment with STU Vertical Array and fixed nodes
14th to 15th of September - Point to Point experiment with Folaga and Portable Acoustic Source Unit
16th to 20th of September - Data analysis and verification of equipment
21th of September - Network experiment with fixed nodes and Fologas in still and moving configuration
22th to 23rd of September - Network experiment with fixed nodes and Fologas, forcing multi-hop situation
UAN11 Experiment
The Final tests of UAN take place May 23-28 in the Trondheim fjord.
Engineering test are carried out the week before, to prepare for the main ones.
The main objective of the Final tests is to verify and demonstrate all main functionalities of the UAN concept, and in particular to demonstrate integration of subsystem in a Command and control (C2) environment. This is implemented by the following tests:
- Single Input Single Output (SISO) point to point communication between nodes at the sea floor
- SISO point to point communication with Folaga AUVs.
- Single Input Multiple Output (SIMO) high rate point to point communication
- Underwater acoustic network configuration and operation
- Network adaptivity using the AUVs
- Integration in C2 and simulation of threat situation
Like in earlier tests, UAN partners will participate with equipment and personel for the operating of the various equipment during this experiment. In particular the equipment will include the Subsurface Telemetry Unit (STU), 2 Fixed Nodes (FNOs) and the Portable Acoustic Source Unit (PASU) from CINTAL, 2 Fologa AUV vehicles from ISME. 5 modems plus one spare from Kongsberg Maritime and Command and control equipment from SSI.
